How to Prepare for a Move

We’ve talked about how to prepare your pet for a move, but what about yourself? Although, there are a lot of things that your Moving Company will do for you, it still makes sense to prepare a little for a move. Here are some tips to help you moving experience become even smoother.

Organize
If you have already chosen your moving company and are awaiting your scheduled moving date, it is a good idea to start organizing your items based on priority.

It is a good time to sort out what you would like to keep and what you would like to leave behind. For things that you don’t want, you can leave them with us. As any items in good condition left with us will be donated to a local charity.

If you would like to make sure that a set of dinnerware (or anything for that matter) stays together, make sure to put the items into one area so that when packed, they will be packed together. This is great for when you reach your destination and know exactly which box and its items should go.

Sorting out your belongings on the moving day will be very time consuming and can easily lead to mistakes (wrong packing or items forgotten); sorting out before the moving day with the help of our Move and Stay stickers will make the moving day a lot more efficient.

Pre-Packing
Pre-packing is also another good way for you to organize and sort-out your things. Pre-packing also helps to sort out the things that you don’t want to take with you as packing things that you actually do not need is waste money and time.

Here is what can be pre-packed:

Clothes Shoes Books
CDs / DVDs
Beddings and linens
Kids’ toys
Other small non-fragile items

Another thing about pre-packing, it can be very helpful to pack a few boxes with items you would like to have at your disposal right away once the shipment reaches its destination. By packing and marking those boxes, you will be able to save time on the day of delivery.

When you pack your own boxes however, make sure to leave them open so that your moving company can scan the boxes for its contents on moving day.
