Dog Travel Tips

Phase 1: Before Travel

Dogs are sensitive to change. Thus, in order to make your dog's life as normal as possible, it is a good idea to maintain their regular diet and routine exercise plan. If possible, let your dog get used to its crate before traveling. Trying to hide something your dog really likes inside the crate could create a positive connection between the crate and your dog. In addition, trying to make a comfortable bed in the crate can help make your dog feel at ease. Leaving the door open could also help your dog explore the interior and exterior of the crate, as they may find out this is a comfortable place to nap.

Phase 2: Pick-up Time

A calm departure before pick-up time is vital to help your dog feel at ease. A long, emotional departure will be likely bring about unnecessary anxiety for your pet.

Complying with your dog's daily diet and regular physical exercise, ensure your dog avoids eating a big meal right before leaving. Feeding your dog a simple meal about four (4) hours before the flight is beneficial. Exercise helps your dog relax in transit and promotes defecation. You need to prepare two (2) portions of your dog's food in two (2) separate plastic bags attached to the outside of the crate, which will available under the situation when the shipment is delayed.

We highly recommend using blankets or towels to alleviate discomfort and insecurity during transportation. Any big bones or other heavy objects should also be avoided, as these represent possible hazards in the event of turbulence.

Phase 3: New Home

You can help your dog adapt by restoring your daily life as soon as possible. Once you arrive at the new home, it is necessary to provide drinking water and plain food for your dog, and quickly return to a normal routine with regards to diet and exercise.

Cat Travel Tips

Phase 1: Before Travel

If possible, get your cat used to its crate before traveling. Trying to hide something your cat really likes inside the crate could help create a positive connection between the crate and them. Put a very comfortable bed inside the crate and leave the crate where your cat likes to sleep most. Some cats like looking down on their owner from above, so we suggest putting the crate on a high surface. Instead of shutting them inside the crate, remembering to leave the door open could also help your cat to explore both inside and outside the crate.

Cats are more sensitive to change than dogs are. Thus, when their familiar environment is about to change, instinct tells them to find a new home outdoors. To avoid losing your cat before moving, please keep them indoors and within your sight.

Phase 2: Pick-up Time

The way you deal with your cat at pick-up time is of much significance to your cat. A long, emotional departure results in unnecessary anxiety for your pet.

Please guarantee that litter and water is available for your cat at all times, but make sure to remove their food four (4) hours before pick-up time. You need to prepare two (2) portions of the cat's food in two (2) separate plastic bags attached to the exterior of the crate, which will be available under the situation when the shipment is delayed.

You can provide comfortable and safe bedding for cats, such as a blanket or towel. Keeping any big or heavy objects inside their crate should be avoided, as possible hazards could arise in the event of turbulence. Additionally, blankets with holes or a loose weave should be avoided since a cat's paws can easily get caught or entangled and cause them pain.

Phase 3: New Home

Cats may become confused because of traveling and may try to escape, so please don't open your crate until you reach home. Before releasing them, move the crate in first and then close the door to ensure that your cat does not escape.

You could help your cat adapt to its new-home environment by returning to a normal routine as soon as possible. Don't panic if your cat doesn't eat anything at first, as cats need extra time to adjust to their new environment.

Pet Relocation Steps

1. Is Your Pet Fit for Relocation?

First, we must determine whether your pet is fit for travel. For importing or exporting, only dogs and cats are allowed. Other types of animals require specialized providers. Please be aware that snub-nosed dogs and cats may require additional documentation and tests. It is also important to remember that you may only relocate one (1) pet per passport.

travel
2. Choose the Travel Option

Choose whether you would like to have your pet travel with you (on your flight either in cabin or in the live animal section of the plane) or have your pet travel by themselves. Both options have different documentation requirements. Your pet relocation consultant will provide you with the documents needed.

immunozation
3. Immunizations & ISO Microchip

Make sure that your pet has had rabies and other disease vaccinations (dependent on destination country) administered more than thirty (30) days before, and less than one year in advance to their relocation. Original vaccination records must be provided. Your pet must also bear an ISO microchip as required by law.

4. Passport & Other Documentation

Photocopies of your passport, including the picture page, Chinese visa page and last entry into China page are required. In addition, your e-ticket itinerary is required, as we will use this to schedule your pet's reservation.

health check
5. Pre-Departure Export Health Check/Certificate

After all of your documents are together, your pet will receive a final pre-travel health check at a government veterinary clinic. With this check, you will receive an export health certificate, certifying your pet for travel.

6. Departure & Quarantine

On the day of departure, take your pet to the airport and we will assist with airport clearance and pet check-in. Upon arrival to your destination, depending on the country, your pet may have to be held in quarantine. Your pet relocation consultant will give you full details describing the duration of your pet's quarantine.
